Darmstadt data platform: a case study from the Federal Gigabit Bureau

Networking, information and consulting - these are the core tasks of the Federal Gigabit Office with the aim of advancing and accelerating gigabit expansion in Germany.

Back to the overview

As the challenges of modern cities change, so do the demands on corresponding (digital) infrastructures. Environmental pollution, traffic chaos and increasing resource consumption are challenges that require a swift and sustainable solution. Smart cities can be part of this solution by efficiently using modern technologies. The university city of Darmstadt in Hesse is considered a pioneer of technical innovations with its Smart City Darmstadt project, which was launched back in 2017. The Smart City data platform enables a clear presentation of various information on the current situation and serves as a central data processing centre for the city’s institutions.
