Situation display via drones
The project Situation Report Using Drones is testing new audio-visual transmission possibilities for an on-site application scenario.

Rapid action is required in the event of crises and disasters. Previously, in Darmstadt, the emergency services assessed the situation on the ground and transmitted it as a radio message only in words.
The project Situation Report Using Drones is testing new audio-visual transmission possibilities for an on-site application scenario. Aerial reconnaissance using drones enables a more reliable and objective assessment of the situation in a considerably shorter time. They transmit images, videos and speech to the control centre, the field staff and the on-site operations management in order to be optimally prepared for any possible deployment.
The drone is intended to support the Darmstadt Fire Department primarily in reconnaissance of restricted areas, large areas such as forests, or buildings or areas that are difficult to access. During major incidents such as accidents, fires, floods, earthquakes, or missing persons searches, it can also be used to locate people. But the drone is not only helpful for the fire department during operations. It can also be used for follow-up inspections in large-scale operations, such as fires. Digital City partner DJI has provided the test drone so that the four representatives of the Darmstadt professional fire department and the ten members of the Eberstadt volunteer fire department can work with it.
