Under the common theme “The Poetry of Data,” art exhibitions and cultural events will be presented in various locations and over several periods in central public spaces in Darmstadt in spring 2024.
“Poetry of Data” goes straight to the heart of the city and addresses diverse target groups of the science and digital city in public spaces. The project connects far-reaching aspects of the digital with art and people. “Poetry of Data” aims to open doors to a world in which data can serve not only as a means of surveillance and organization, but as a source of inspiration and creation.
The first event, “AI Theater – A Theatrical Turing Test,” will take place on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 8 p.m. at the Theater-Moller-Haus. The AI Theatre Ensemble will present a joint performance in collaboration with the artificial intelligence ChatGPT. In this improvisational theater performance, the actors will test the AI’s ability to cooperate. The AI will be cast as a talented co-actor. In a multisensory data walk, participants will explore Darmstadt through the lens of an artificial intelligence.
Following the performance, the actors will discuss the stage action with experts from science, business, and society in a panel discussion on the question “Can AI cooperate?” Participants include Dr. Martin Mundt, AI expert at TU Darmstadt, José David da Torre Suarez, Managing Director of Digitalstadt Darmstadt GmbH, and Sascha Peters, Senior Manager at the IT company axxessio.
In a second improvisational theater performance on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the actors will review the performance with AI experts Professor Bernhard Humm from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and Prof. Sebastian Oschatz from the Frankfurt creative agency MESO from the perspective of “Is AI creative?”
On Saturday, May 11, starting at 3 p.m., Stefan Kollmeier invites you to a multi-sensory data walk at the event “AI Visits Darmstadt.” Participants in the event, in cooperation with the Darmstadt Adult Education Center (VHS Darmstadt), will experience Darmstadt through the lens of artificial intelligence.
